He was known for playing Stanford Blatch on the HBO series Sex and the City, in the related films Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2 and in the spin-off And Just Like That..., Mozzie in the USA Network series White Collar from 2009 to 2014, Ralph in the 2005 romantic comedy Little Manhattan, Gerard Hirsch in the reboot of Hawaii Five-0, and Martin Lloyd in the sci-fi series Stargate SG-1.Garson was born in Highland Park, New Jersey, the son of Muriel (née Schwartz) and Donald M. Paszamant. Garson was Jewish. He attended Camp Wekeela in Hartford, Maine, as a child for 11 years. He graduated in 1982 from Highland Park High School. In 1985, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater from Wesleyan University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale Drama School.Garson began his career in theater, appearing in productions off-Broadway and on Broadway. Robinson in Little Caesar (1931), a favorably reviewed turn as the villain in The Prisoner of Zenda (1937), or more debonair characters in slapstick comedies or adventure yarns.The 1930s were a fruitful period for Fairbanks, his most memorable role probably being that of the British soldier in Gunga Din (1939); although it was somewhat of a "swasbuckling" role, Fairbanks made a point of never imitating his father.After World War II, his star waned and, despite a moving part in Ghost Story (1981), he did not appear in a major movie. American second feature director who arrived in California aboard the SS Mongolia (bound from New York) on which he served as a bellboy. Sherman began his career in the movie business in the mail room at Warner Brothers before working his way up to assistant director. By 1937, he had graduated to directing in his own right under contract with Republic. Sherman specialised almost exclusively in B-westerns, (including the "Three Mesqueteers" series, which featured a young John Wayne), with occasional forays into action and horror themes. He often achieved a sense of style over substance. Indeed, as to his handling of the 'Mesqueteers', Variety commented on his imparting a "poetry in motion" to his "unified timing of cowboys mounting, riding, wheeling, galloping and dismounting of steeds" (July 2 1939). From 1940, Sherman also served as associate producer on many of his films.The diminutive (five foot) Sherman turned out reliable low-budget fare for Columbia between 1945 and 1948, then moved on to do the same at Universal for another eight years. Thereafter, he turned to free-lancing and working in television.
